There are so many ways you can be more sustainable at home. They often result in being more organised.
If, like me, you have tried adjusting to a digital calendar but still long for a paper diary, try Filofax. By now we also know the bonuses of sharing a digital calendar with your partner, you can have both.
Sadly I’ve misplaced my A5 leather bound Filofax that my husband gave me for our first Christmas together in 2001. I dutifully refilled it every year, until switching to a pocket size diary in 2011 to streamline my hand bag.
I’m ordering the day to a page refill as I have to get organised to have a less stressful year. If you prefer living large, I confess this Norfolk A5 organiser in Sage has me drooling. You might just love it too.
I get the irony in ordering a diary refill and trying to get organised for the year ahead when we are already a week in. Better late than never. To read about the sustainability practices of Filofax go here.
To keep myself honest I’m mentioning here that I’m on the hunt for more sustainable hard copy writing materials. Watch this space.
Old me would have saved this post as a draft and come back to it months later. The new me is embracing work in progress. Done is better than perfect.
Sustainable Notepads
February 2023 update and I’m overjoyed to have found Clairefontaine notebooks in Dymocks Sydney. The logo caught my eye. It gave me flashbacks of the textured writing pad I used to write my family when living in Paris. This paper company has been around for years and continues to refine its production with sustainability in mind. This is very reassuring for eco warriors like myself who still need to write things down with a pen.
Home Organising Hack
One organising cheat that we use at home is to reuse those pesky plastic bags that kids underwear comes in. They’re great to store the tiny toys that are always laying around. A simple command hook on the inside of a cupboard door and you are set. Waste not, want not was what my Nana used to always say. These days it’s refuse, reduce, reuse and recycle.
