It’s been a long time since I last grew carrots, mainly because they aren’t easy and they take a long time to grow before you can harvest them.
But, my kids LOVE eating carrots, so it doesn’t make sense that we aren’t growing our own. Thus, we changed that, and we got these funny shaped carrots of all different sizes.
They all looked funny, but were absolutely delicious. Now I just need to start successive planting again because my daughters go nuts checking the vegetables every day, and not being able to pick them.
Growing food is also a good way to teach children to wait for good things. In a world where they find so many things instant this waiting game is a good learning experience.
We got heirloom carrot seeds from The Diggers Club. The different colours engage kids curiosity and make a salad look great.
