Fun Mindfull Activities for Better Mental Health

Mental Health activity adult colouring

There’s no hiding the fact that many of us are having to actively take care of our mental health. The last two years have been like no other we have experienced. I’m currently using a few different methods to ‘recover’ after lockdown. Here are just a few options that I hope you enjoy.

Colouring In

Since the kids are thoroughly enjoying crafting all over the house, you may as well enjoy some good old fashioned colouring in. It’s called mindfullness these days, but pretty pictures like this make you an artist.

Knitting

Another favourite thing for me to do to zone out is knit. There is something very special about using my Nana’s knitting needles to make something from yarn. Where you can, try to support small local business when purchasing your supplies. In the Northern Beaches I love Fenner’s in Mona Vale and Avalon Fabrics. Knitting whilst watching TV is so much better than phone scrolling with my fidgety hands.

Reading Self Help Books For Mental Health

Currently I’m reading The Happiness Trap by Dr Ross Harris. It’s a great reminder about how self talk effects your day to day life. This book is an easy read and a nice little reset. If home schooling has broken good habits in your house like it has done in mine, log into Audible and listen to 1,2,3, Magic when you are doing the laundry.

Most importantly, lets remember how to be kind to ourselves. Don’t expect perfection as it takes away our time to enjoy life together, hopefully in nature.
