This morning I went out to give the chooks yesterdays veggie scraps. I was overjoyed when suddenly struck by two bright yellow zucchini flowers that emerged as I walked along the garden path. Yesterday morning they were only buds and today they are complete flowers, adding such a gorgeous burst of yellow to the garden.

Last year we had a bumper crop of zucchinis and I can’t wait to start harvesting this seasons produce. Hopefully we will have enough to share with friends and family again this year.
I still have to think of the Aussie name for this under rated vegetable every time I say it. This is due to the fact that the first time I ever saw and ate zucchini was in Paris where it was introduced to me as courgette. If I’m really honest I prefer to call them courgettes because it sounds so much nicer than zucchini.
If you haven’t watched Upper Middle Bogan yet do yourself a favour and have a good laugh. My friend asked me if I has seen this and when I said “yes! I identify with her so much!” he responded that the main character reminded him of me. I take it as a compliment. Bogan classy style every day.
Zucchini flower buds sprung up in the garden and went from a green hidden bud to a huge bright yellow flower in five days. Mother nature truly is amazing.
