I’ve been wanting to write more, but find myself stuck for ideas. So today’s writing prompt about trusting your instincts is timely.
Most of us go through times when we are in tune with ourselves and trust our instincts. These times feel magical. There are also times when life gets too busy and we lose connection with each other, with mother nature and ourselves.
By ignoring my gut instincts and paying the price I’ve learned to listen to what the voice is telling me. I can’t explain where it’s coming from, but I thank the universe when I hear it.
Not that many years ago people were connected to mother nature and listened to her messages. To me, that is my instincts.
Knowing that smell in the air is telling us that rain is coming. Or watching the bees head home so they don’t get stuck in the rain.
Often we don’t know what the time is. However, when the chickens go to bed, it’s time to go inside to avoid the mosquitos.
Trusting My Tough Instincts
I’m sharing a photo of Wednesday the baby magpie that we helped back in September 2022. Really, we helped each other. They helped me feel connected to nature again.
I deliberately didn’t share anything when we were fostering them. Wednesday fell out of their nest up the road from us. The tree was too high for us to put them back in. I’d also reported cat attacks on local wildlife under the same tree so I wasn’t going to leave Wednesday there. I will keep the story short and say that this special creature needed our help. My gut instincts told me when they were ready to return to the wild. It wasn’t easy saying goodbye but it was the right thing to do. And their parents sang me a beautiful thank you song for helping their baby and bringing them back home.
Let’s not forget one of the best instincts is when you feel relaxed being with good people.
When I feel like I need help finding my instincts, I often resort to Brene Brown. Lately, I’m reading Atlas of The Heart.
Do you trust your instincts? Have you always?
